Montgomery Township Volunteer Fire Co. #2
has been proudly serving the citizens of Montgomery Township and
beyond since 1946. Our primary protection area is the southern portion
of the township a diverse area with rural farmlands, schools, and
airport, a railroad, miles of highway, businesses of all types and
residential homes and townhouses.
Our fire company is and always has been 100% volunteer. Our members
are not paid for their services. Our members are your neighbors, and
come from all walks of life, including students, professors, dentists,
welders, lawyers, businessmen, plumbers, corporate employees, horse
trainers, self employed entrepreneurs, stay at home parents and
retirees. The men and women of our company range in age from 16 to 95.
What brings us together is our community spirit and the satisfaction
of knowing that our collaborative effort makes everyone in the
community safer and keeps down the cost of living by lowering taxes
and insurance rates.
When needed we answer the call,
BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!
We are currently seeking members for all
levels of participation. It doesn't matter who you are, there's a job
that suits you in the fire company.
Associate Member: Assists
with support, administrative, and fund raising tasks, but do not
respond to emergencies. No training is required to become an associate
member.
Active Firefighter:
Responds to emergencies and actively engage in firefighting. Due to
OSHA regulations, you must be 18 to complete the training required to
be an active firefighter. Firefighters must complete Firefighter 1
certification to fully participate at emrgency scenes. All training is
offered at the
Somerset County Emergency Services Training Academy at no cost to
the members. Active firefighters also participate in all associate
member duties.
Fire Police: Control
traffic at emergency scenes, participate in administrative and fund
raising tasks. Some training required.
Junior Firefighter: Anyone
age 16 or above but below the age of 18. Juniors respond to fire calls
and assists active firefighters but do not actively engage in
firefighting.
Each Wednesday we meet at 7:00 PM. What is
done each Wednesday night is determined by what week of the month it
happens to be. The first week is always a work session were all
members contribute their part towards the maintenance of the trucks,
upkeep of the building, and any other service projects the company may
take undertake. The second week all members convene for our monthly
business meeting in which we discuss and vote upon issues that face
the company. The 3rd and 4th Wednesdays of the month are dedicated
towards drilling in which all members gather to train in preparation
for real emergencies.

Our members are not paid, but there are
